Pricing & What Determines the Cost of Your Floor Restoration

Pricing the cleaning and restoration of your floor

How we price your restoration

At Hampshire Hard Floor Care, every floor is different — its stone type, age, condition, installation method and previous treatments all influence the work required. Because of this, we don’t offer fixed online prices. Instead, we provide accurate, honest quotes once we properly understand your floor.

Our goal is simple:

To give you a fair, transparent price that reflects the correct methods needed to restore your floor safely and professionally.

Part 2

Condition of the Floor

The condition of the floor is one of the biggest influences on price.
Issues that increase restoration time include:

  • Etching from acidic spills
  • Scratches and abrasion
  • Heavy dullness or surface damage
  • Staining or deep contamination
  • Previous sealers, coatings or waxes that must be removed
  • Lippage (uneven tiles)
  • Deeply soiled grout lines

We only use correct, stone-safe methods, and some floors require additional stages for a safe, high-quality result.

Part 3

Size of the Area

While the total square metres matter, the type of space often plays a bigger role.

Example:

A 20sqm open, empty room may allow faster machine work and clear access.
A 20sqm kitchen, however, often includes:

  • Cabinets
  • Kickboards
  • Islands
  • Tight corners
  • Edging work
  • Hand-tool detailing
  • Fridges, ovens, tables and chairs that must be moved or worked around

This means the same square meterage can take significantly longer, simply due to layout and required precision.

We price fairly based on the actual work involved — not just numbers.

Floor Type & Material

Part 1

Different surfaces require different skills, equipment and products.
For example:

  • Travertine may need hole-filling or honing
  • Limestone may suffer from etching and need refinement
  • Marble may require multi-stage polishing
  • Slate may require stripping of old sealers
  • LVT often needs stripping, neutralising and re-sealing
  • Worktops and vanities require fine polishing and precision techniques

Each material has its own restoration process — and therefore its own cost factors.

Access & Room Layout

The layout of the space affects time, preparation, and the method we use.
Factors include:

  • Furniture that must be moved or worked around
  • Narrow areas or tight gaps
  • Split levels or multiple rooms
  • Stairs or thresholds
  • Masking and protection for adjacent surfaces

This is why we request photos — they help us understand both the floor and the space around it.

Part 4

Required Level of Finish

Different goals require different levels of restoration:

  • Deep clean only
  • Deep clean + sealing
  • Honing to a matte or satin finish
  • Full polishing to a high gloss
  • Worktop refinishing to remove etching or scratches

Your quotation reflects the correct method needed to achieve the finish you want.

Part 5

Sealing & Protection Products

We use only high-quality impregnators and premium protective coatings.
Costs vary depending on:

  • Stone porosity
  • Number of coats required
  • Product type (standard sealers vs advanced systems such as AntiEtch / No-Etch / Faber solutions)

We never use cheap, short-lived sealers.

Part 6

Travel & Project Logistics

Travel is usually included for most Hampshire locations.
Some projects, especially large-scale or complex ones, require additional planning:

  • Heritage or listed buildings
  • Multi-day restoration
  • Large commercial areas
  • Marine/cruise ship work

Any logistical elements are always explained clearly.

Part 7

Why We Don’t Give “Per m²” Prices Online

Two floors with identical square meterage can require completely different:

  • Methods
  • Equipment
  • Stages
  • Safety measures
  • Time on site
  • Amount of product and sealer

We provide accurate, tailored pricing so you pay only for the work your floor genuinely needs.

How to Get an Accurate Quote

We normally request:

  • A few clear photos
  • Approximate room sizes
  • Your postcode
  • The type of stone (if known)
  • Any issues you'd like resolved

We usually respond the same day with clear guidance.

Honest, Transparent Pricing — No Sales Pressure

As a husband-and-wife team, we believe in fair, detailed and trustworthy pricing.
Our quotes are:

  • Clear and transparent
  • Free from sales pressure
  • Based on correct stone-safe methods
  • Focused on delivering long-term results

And whether it’s a kitchen floor, a worktop, a country home hallway or a cruise ship project, you receive the same care, planning and attention to detail.

Summing up, we don’t use misleading statements like “from £20 per sqm” or “from £35 per sqm.” Every floor is different, so instead we provide clear, honest quotations based on the actual work required — nothing more, nothing less.
